Sanders' history of classic farm tractors ("gorgeous old machines") begins with a fully detailed chapter on tractor development, with emphasis on the mechanical high points in the evolution of this vastly important implement for cultivation. The introductory section is succeeded by separate chapters on specific tractor companies, providing in text and illustration (beautiful photographs of tractors that have been restored by collectors) a cogent history of each company. Sanders includes such companies as John Deere, International Harvester, and Massey-Ferguson. A wonderful public library purchase for technology collections.

Reader Reviews
Good coffee table style book on antique farm tractors. Covers all major manufactures and a chapter on orphans. Shows a good range of tractors for each make, but not the full line or history. Great color pictures. Above average for this style of general book on antique tractors.
