In 1948, the Alexander Doll Co. began making dolls out of hard plastic instead of composition. Those playthings are said to be among the most sought after of all dolls. This picture price guide focuses on Madame Alexander dolls made from 1948 to 1965. Each illustration is paired with a brief caption detailing the year the doll was made, its name, size, details and a value. -Don Johnson/AntiqueWeek

I am restoring a 1956 Madame Alexander Cissy doll. I had purchased 2 other books of pictures of Madame Alexander dolls but the pictures of the dolls I was interested in were either in black and white or not included in the books. This book has almost all of the Cissy dolls that were made and their outfits. The pictures are in color so I was able to use this book to select fabric for making dresses. The pictures were also of great value when I styled Cissy's hair. The book also includes pictures of the other Madame Alexander dolls that were made during this time frame. It is a very complete and useful book for anyone collecting MA dolls.
