The introductory section discusses the parts of the fiddle and bow, how to hold the fiddle and bow, tuning, required equipment, how to read tablature, and everything needed to start playing tunes right away. This book is not a note-reading method. However, the songs do become progressively more challenging. It is not a dumbed-down book where every song is arranged at the first-week level. Beginners who wish to learn to read music while learning to play country fiddle are referred to Larry McCabe's excellent How to Play Fiddle method book. Early intermediate fiddlers will find some very nice arrangements here. Tunes
