Publisher Description
Noel Bennett lived on the Navajo Reservation from 1968 to 1976. During this time, under the tutelage of twenty-one Navajo weavers, she learned the full spectrum of Navajo weaving--shearing, carding, spinning and plant-dyeing the yarn, and weaving on the Navajo loom. To help preserve the culture, Noel has written ten books on the subject. In 1982, she founded Shared Horizons, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of Navajo culture.

This book tells it like it is: how to really tell if that rug that fellow wants to sell you is the real thing or a knock-off ... and there are a lot of fakes "out there." The writer also tells you how to buy a good Navajo rug ... what to look for in quality of wool, coloring, weaving expertse, condition, etc. It's worth the money.
