This text is aimed at collectors starting out. It covers the different sources of porcelain - auction houses, markets and dealers as well as venues to visit where porcelain may be seen and appreciated. Two major sections of the book cover the main porcelain producing countries and the famous factories and designers. Easy identification is assisted by discussing eight typical pieces of shapes for procelain objects such as cups, plates and bowls. There is advice on identifying fakes and later reproductions as well as on key rules in choosing and purchasing. For the committed collector there is a reading list for further research.
