    Review
ANTIQUE GUNS: A COLLECTOR'S GUIDE by Shooter's Bible packs in all the specifications and photos needed to accurately identify hundreds of collectible firearms, from Lancaster rifles to double shotguns, carbines and revolvers. This isn't just a price guide, either: plenty of history on the manufacturers and models accent descriptions and some black and white and color photos - descriptions which get down to weight and barrel size. -- California Bookwatch, Midwest Book Review, December 2005

This comprehensive guide presents the key antique firearms that are coveted and traded by collectors today. Current investment values, detailed descriptions and dates of production (when known) highlight the hundreds of firearms - common and rare - crafted by American and international gunmakers dating back to the 1500s (and before). Lavishly illustrated, Antique Guns - The Collector's Guide includes: Handguns, Rifles, Shotguns, Blackpowder Replicas, Obsolete Cartridges, and Obsolete Gun Parts. -- Booktrail

This is a 320 paged, soft-covered book that details in depth what the antique collector needs to know about dealing in or collecting antique firearms. This book provides identification of firearms, a good working knowledge of gun characteristics in order to spot repairs, work modifications or "fakes." The book covers most European, American and Asian antique pistols, rifles and shotguns. -- Bill Carney, New Hampshire Wildlife, September/October 2005

This soft cover book is a concise and meticulously researched guide for identifying and pricing antique firearms covering many of the pre-1900 American and European firearms that interest most collectors and dealers. Antique Guns includes the basic, essential specifications necessary for making an accurate identification of a given firearm. The text includes historical background for most items and hundreds of photos and drawings for identification purposes as well as suggested monetary value. The book is 298 pages thick and contains information on rifles, handguns, shutguns and obsolete cartridges. -- Outdoors Magazine, October 2005

    Reader Reviews
This book is a waste of paper: I just received and opened it: The introduction lets you understand you're going to learn the different guns. Page 1 is full of photos of diverse handguns. One is dubbed: "French Flintlock Pistol". The photo shows a back action percussion lock. Hmmm. I jump to "Swiss Military Rifles" (I'm a Swiss collector). Two rifles are listed: First a Mod. 1871, cal 10.5 mm. The caption is a Mod. 1869 and the right caliber is 10.4 mm. Second a 1891, cal 7.63x54 Russian caliber Mod 1891... same as Moisin Nagant. From 1889 to 1890, the Swiss Army Watches caliber was 7.5x55. From 1889 to 1957, the rifles were Schmidt Rubin or derivates. There NEVER was a 7.63x54 cal. Moisin among the Swiss Military Rifles. I shut the book down. I had to put a star to review the book, but it's worth none. It's for sale, new, quarter price.
