If you live in the US and/or plan on learning more about buying and selling antiques in America, then this book might not be the best resource. I didn't realize until after buying this book, that that the intended audience is British. Shoop goes into great detail talking about what to expect from dealers, fairs, centers, and shops in Britain but a lot of the information in this book just doesn't apply here in the US. The book is written with the British version of spelling things along with currency in british pounds. While not a huge deal, you may end up re-reading sentences because of that. If you're interested in paintings, don't exepect to find much advice here. Most of the attention is focused on the general idea of finding a historic object that may prove to have a higher value either now or in the future. She mentions china, furniture and various trinkets. If you're in Britain, this seems like a great resource for the antique enthusiast.
