Men's Clothing and Fabrics in the 1890s: Price Guide (Schiffer Book for Collectors) by Roseann Ettinger
Men's Clothing and Fabrics in the 1890s: Price Guide (Schiffer Book for Collectors)

Book Description
By today's standards, men wore formal dress every day in the 1890s. The color lithographs and line drawings of men dressed for work that are shown here bear striking contrast to men in the streets now. That very fact makes these clothes more than interesting today, they are actually time capsules for the lifestyle of a century ago. Heavy woolen cloth that has lasted a hundred years, and practical styles that were always comfortable and smart-looking bear witness to the time before automobiles and electricity. Now they have become antiques themselves. The hundreds of cloth swatches that appear have subtle patterns and plenty of texture to withstand much use. Vintage clothing collectors and designers will marvel at their variety.

About The Author
Roseann Ettinger is fascinated with the history of fashion; she owns Remember When vintage clothing store in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, and has written many books on twentieth century clothes and jewelry.

Mexican Popular Art: Clothing and Dolls by Wendy A. Scalzo
Mexican Popular Art: Clothing and Dolls

Book Description
Book Description:

This insightful study of traditional Mexican clothing is based on authentic vintage & antique dolls made by Mexico's local artisans or by renowned doll makers of the 20th c. With over 370 color photographs, it is a beautiful and comprehensive review that relates customs, language, music, and folk arts to a blending that is wholly Mexican and now its national culture. Men's and women's regional clothing is explored, including serapes, sombreros, Colonial dress, skirts, and shawls worn by the indigenous native Mexicans & mestizo. Dolls, period photographs, and adult clothes present a visual story tracing variations that clothing has undergone from decade to decade. Today, people in all walks of life will find this refreshing look at traditional Mexican attire to be fascinating and inspiring.

From the Author
The visual satisfaction I feel about Mexico's popular arts is one of pure delight. Through their art and clothing I can inhabit a part of their strong traditions, especially in my "niche" the Mexican costume doll. After many years of collecting Mexican dolls and their tourist clothing I realized how important it was to document what I learned and to share my dolls with the rest of the world. Very few if any of Mexico's popular arts books acknowledge the Mexican made dolls and there is no publication that has exclusively recognized them. Mexico's contribution of folk art sustained the integrity of their culture during the 20th c. The tourist dolls and clothing have been highly coveted but yet there is no concrete data to document the artisans or the makers. I am proud to present you with a book that is not only a tribute to the dolls and the clothing but also a credible book full of insightful detail and information about their origns and distinctive attributes. I hope you enjoy the dolls & some of my pieces of Mexican folk art . Most of them are from my private collection, no longer seen at the typical retail shops.

Modern Fishing Lure Collectibles (Modern Fishing Lure Collectibles Identification and... by Russell E. Lewis
Modern Fishing Lure Collectibles (Modern Fishing Lure Collectibles Identification and...

Product Description
Like Volumes 1 and 2, Modern Fishing Lure Collectibles, Volume 3, deals primarily with items made since 1940 in the United States. Volume 3 continues author Russell Lewis's tradition of providing large, crisp photos, realized prices for items, and histories to go along with both well-known and often forgotten fishing lure companies. Expanded information on companies that could not be fully covered in Volumes 1 and 2 is included, as well as new companies: Horrocks-Ibbotson Company, Wood's Lures, L & S Minnows, and Cicso Kid Lures, to name just a few. The book gives the reader a true image of a particular year in fishing tackle history through advertisements from the time period, detailed facts, and representative photographs. While Volume 2 gave the complete history for nearly 50 years by examining vintage catalogs, this volume shows many of the actual rods and reels in photographs with approximate values when known for items from 1937 through 1952. Lewis gives a complete history of all rods, reels, and lures available for sale in the United States for 1952. This volume contains no repeats from Lewis's other books and identifies previously unknown items. It is a perfect companion to author Lewis's other volumes. AUTHORBIO: Russell E. Lewis is the author of Modern Fishing Lure Collectibles, Volume 1 and Modern Fishing Lure Collectibles, Volume 2, as well as co-author of Captain John's Fishing Tackle Price Guide. Having collected fishing lures since 1950, he and his wife run a business, Heritage Tackle 'n Tiques, where he deals fishing lures online and at antique shows.
