Beth began quiltmaking in the 1960s. Always interested in many areas of art expression, she admired the geometrical patterns traditionally associated with quilting design. She worked in the crafts market during the early 1980s, winning a purchase award in the 1984 Tennessee Craft Sampler's Summer Show in Nashville, Tennessee. She has won Best of Show with her watercolor paintings in local competition and one of her watercolors was accepted into the Browning Manufacturing Kentucky Artists Competition juried by Vincent Price. While attending the Western Kentucky Technical Vocational School, she won local and state-wide honors in architectural drafting competitions. Her cousin Nancy Hutchison introduced her to the art of quilting and together they designed and constructed a wholecloth quilt that was juried into the very first AQS Quilt Show and Contest held each April in Paducah, Kentucky. Beth has a technical degree in architectural and mechanical drafting and has been a graphic artist for Schroeder Publishing Company, Inc., since 1988. Together with her husband, B.J., she lives in rural Marshall County, Kentucky.
