This annual directory, first published in 1988, covers over 3500 baseball card dealers in North America. Illustrated throughout with dealer ads (which are also indexed), the book consists of four sections: an alphabetical listing of dealers and businesses, an index by specialty (such as autographs or the cards of certain players), a listing by location, and a dealer name and phone number section. The directory, for the most part, serves its purpose well; the main listings even show which credit cards dealers take, and their fax numbers, and collectors will find the geographical index especially helpful. However, there are problems in editing and indexing: for example, a tribute to Early Wynn, honorary editor of this edition, stops in mid-sentence; and some dealers are listed alphabetically under "the," not the rest of the name. Still, this is a handy source that sports collectors will want; recommended for sports and larger reference collections.
